December 11th, 2012 - A Well-Dressed Window
The Litchfield Green looks especially wonderful this time of year with the street lamps and store windows beautifully decorated for the season.  For our timeless window decorations, we turn to local residents and enthusiastic hobbyists, Kelly Susi and Bob Calabrese.  Kelly is pictured in an R. Derwin Cashmere Ultimate Boyfriend Sweater, a cashmere cable knit scarf and fur cuffed gloves by Dents of England.  Her high waist skinny jeans by Current Elliot are tucked into the “Galway” leather waterproof boot by Dubarry of Ireland.
In the fall, Bob and Kelly begin sleuthing their favorite and top-secret locations in search of the perfect greens, berries, pods, and pine cones.  It isn’t always easy to find what they want: “It was a bad year for berries,” says Bob, also husband of our Women’s Store manager, Linda.  While berries may be in short supply, great gift items are abound at R. Derwin Clothiers Ladies Boutique and Mens Haberdashery.  Our well-dressed holiday windows display a selection of the many wonderful garments gracing our shelves.  Inside you will find an abundance of beautiful pieces, someone on your list is sure to love.
Born and raised in Litchfield County, Bob embodies the current “living local” movement.  All of the “ingredients” in the centerpiece above were gathered locally in Litchfield and all the items Bob is wearing below were made in U.S.A.  Bob’s Bills Khakis flannel lined “barn coat” and deerskin gloves are made in Reading, PA.  His R. Derwin cotton flannel overshirt in made in Fall River, MA layered with a vegetable-dyed Rambouillet wool long sleeve shirt from Ramblers Way of Kennebunk, ME.  His denim is made in Los Angeles, CA by J. Brand and his boots are Frye’s new bench-made American “Walter” lace-up boot (modeled after the Alden Indy Boot).  Even his tweed cap is made in midtown Manhattan by master hatters, Makins.
Please stop by to view the talented craft of our friends, Bob and Kelly.  And, while you are here, shop inside stress-free for those on your list.  Leave the foraging and sleuthing to Bob and Kelly.  Our well-dressed window is just the beginning.
Happy Holidays!
